SUBCISION

WHAT IS SUBCISION

Subcision is a minor surgical procedure used to treat large depressions and dimples associated with cellulite and acne scars on the face. Subcision is an effective treatment for the large dimpling or depressions associated with cellulite and usually results in a 50% improvement in the depth of the dimple/depression.

HOW OFTEN

For one, it’s virtually painless and results can be permanent after 2-3 treatments. Most common side effects are bruising (always), and some pigmentation at the treatment sites, which usually resolves in 3 months to 1 year.

DURING THE PROCEDURE

After the local anaesthesia is given, this procedure is virtually painless. Then a special needle is used to release the fibrous tissue that had been tethering the skin downwards, which was the cause of the original depression, dimpling or scar. Compression bandages are applied after the procedure. Patients can usually drive themselves home after the procedure.

AFTER THE PROCEDURE

No heavy activity or hot tubs are recommended for 48 hours after the treatment, and antibiotics may be prescribed as a preventative measure.

ACNE SCARS BY SUBCISION

For individual scars, subcision is an effective treatment, but is often combined with the other treatments of The DermaRoller or Fractional CO2 treatment or PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) Therapy for optimized results.
